Ravens and Eagles II
This beautifully-realized celebration of Haida art allows those who practice the art form to share their stories first-hand. The featured artists convey both traditional and contemporary experiences through their works, reflecting their land, their cultural fabric, and their political identity. Also highlighted are issues of importance to Haida culture, such as repatriation of cultural artifacts, and keeping their ancient and distinct language alive. Featuring rich visuals and compelling stories, this series is an eloquent exploration of the unique voices of Haida artists.
Classrooms seem to be the centre for the revitalization of a language that, just 100 years before, was the only language in use on Haida Gwaii. (12 of 13)
