Paying more for high risk behaviours

No one has the "right" to abuse the health care system or make others pay for the consequences of their own irresponsible behaviour. If you have smoked for years and years, and refuse to give it up even after developing conditions known to be directly related to smoking, then you should also choose to pay higher healthcare insurance premiums. It is time for people to start growing up and taking responsibility for their own health. The same goes for recreational drug use- if you cause an accident that harms another while under the influence, you are criminally responsible, and should you be injured at the same time, you should have to pay the cost for your own treatment. If that sounds harsh, it is because I have seen too many preventable accidents, where far too many innocents have been irreparably changed.
