Burnaby, B.C. -- British Columbia’s Knowledge Network has received a $212,000 bequest from the estate of Doris Marion Beauchamp of Chemainus, B.C. It is the largest estate gift received since the establishment of the Endowment Fund in 2007.
“We are so grateful to Mrs. Beauchamp, a Knowledge Partner for many years, for her generosity and enduring support,” said Rudy Buttignol, President and CEO of Knowledge Network Corporation. “Her thoughtful gift to the endowment will ensure great programs continue to be premiered on Knowledge Network for years to come.”
Mrs. Beauchamp had a keen interest in the history of Chemainus and was committed to her community. During her years in Chemainus she held memberships with the Mural Society, Chemainus Valley Museum, Chemainus Valley Historical Society and the Chemainus Seniors Centre.
Gifts to the Knowledge Network Endowment Fund are an investment in the future of public broadcasting in British Columbia. It was established with a long-term view to support new programming, including the creation of B.C. stories. The Endowment Fund was launched seven years ago with a major gift from Sid and Gladys Sharman from Nanaimo, and recently surpassed the $2 million milestone.
