Documentary Masterclass Call for Entries | Knowledge.ca

BURNABY BC (February 6, 2017) - British Columbia’s Knowledge Network, in partnership with Creative BC and the Canadian Media Producers Association - BC Producers Branch, is presenting an immersive international documentary masterclass for BC independent producers. The goal is to help develop projects in collaboration with influential international decision makers that appeal to global audiences.

‘‘Knowledge Network is committed to developing and commissioning creative documentaries from the independent production community,’’ said Rudy Buttignol, President and CEO of Knowledge Network. ‘‘We are especially grateful to be partnering with Creative BC and CMPA - BC to bring international expertise to Vancouver to assist filmmakers in developing relationships that can enhance their projects for the global market.’’

Leading the masterclass will be a distinguished group of commissioning editors and broadcasters. They include:

  • Krishan Arora - SBS Australia

  • Axel Arno - SVT, Sweden

  • Nick Fraser - Yaddo, UK

  • Tom Koch - PBS International, USA

  • Margje de Koning - IKONdocs, Netherlands

  • Karolina Lidin - Nordic Film and TV Fund, Norway

  • Murray Battle - Masterclass Lead, Knowledge Network B.C.

The international documentary masterclass will be held in Vancouver from June 26-28, 2017. Up to 10 projects will be selected based on the creativity and originality of the documentary concept, as well as the filmmaker’s story-telling ability and success of past works.
