Commercial-free doesn't mean free.
Here's why we need your support.
TV you can trust
Local storytelling, independent voices
In a media landscape cluttered with sensational content from often-dubious sources, you can always count on Knowledge to provide intelligent programming you can trust. We search the world to bring you programs that inspire, challenge, and delight, free from commercial interruptions.
And, we’re proud to be among the few organizations that have received accreditation by Imagine Canada for demonstrating leadership, excellence and trustworthiness in the charitable sector.
Stories that need to be told don't always get turned into prime-time TV shows. But because Knowledge Network is 100% commercial-free, we don't answer to corporate interests or what will 'sell'. We're driven by providing programs that deliver different points of view, not by rating points.
Knowledge Network is literally the only place in the world that is dedicated solely to providing a platform for BC filmmakers to share their unique perspectives on the place we all call home. When you become a Partner, you join a vibrant, engaged community of independent thinkers who share your passion for our province, and our world.
Your dollars at work
Knowledge Network is British Columbia's public broadcaster. We belong to you. And because we have no commercial or corporate funding, we simply wouldn't exist without your support. Here's where our money comes from, and where it goes.
Knowledge Network relies strongly on the support of our viewers. In fact, 1/3 of our operating budget comes from viewer donations.
Knowledge Network costs British Columbians the equivalent of one cup of coffee per person, per year.
More than 40% of our programming budget supports original stories told by BC and Canadian filmmakers.
