Ian Rankin on Mankell, Mavericks and Monsters

Scottish crime writer Ian Rankin and the late Swedish crime writer Henning Mankell both spent decades writing about two lonely men, detectives with big hearts and bad habits. During a recent visit to Vancouver, Rankin sat down with us to talk about Mankell’s legacy, the crime-writing community and that question that continues to burn in his gut: why do we keep doing bad things to each other?
