This Land is Mine

After the Second World War, Singaporean lawyer Dennis Chiang is tasked with defending a Japanese officer accused of war crimes. Meanwhile, his cousin June is caught in the middle of a custody battle.

June and George run afoul of local gangsters during their search for Gim Huat's mother. A visit to a nightclub opens up a new friendship for Dennis, but an old wound for June.

Dennis faces his first hurdle with Nakamura's case when his own client rejects him. A trip to the cinema ends badly for June - and for Dennis, who discovers a terrible secret.

Major Khan, a former war hero, reports for duty at his newly assigned camp. June brings Emma Rider to the kampong so she can be reunited with her niece Mariam.

Dennis' life is threatened for taking on Nakamura's case, the tension escalates between Major Khan and Holmes, and June is given one last chance to return Mariam to Aunt Emma.
