Michelle van Beusekom is a skilled cultural sector leader with over 25 years of experience in broadcasting and production.
Michelle has previously served as the Executive Director of the National Film Board’s Canada-wide network of English language production studios. She was Senior Broadcast Advisor for Uvagut TV, Canada’s first national Indigenous language television network; and Executive Director of the Documentary Organization of Canada. Michelle has held production/development executive roles at the CBC and WTN (now W Network) and is a former programmer at Planet In Focus, Canada’s first environmental film festival.
Michelle brings to Knowledge a nuanced understanding of the rapidly evolving Canadian broadcast and production landscape, sector-wide relationships, international networks, and a career-long commitment to public media and its role, responsibility and untapped potential to drive creative innovation, promote equity, diversity and inclusion and to connect people, build understanding and community.
Michelle is an Advisory member of the Seneca College Documentary and Non-Fiction Media Production Program. She holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Toronto and a Masters of Arts from York University.
